Practically crawled up the hill today. Sore toe, not really. Recovered from cold, not really.
Still it was chilly and that kept me moving. After the slow climb I crossed paths with a couple of people doing the route in a different direction to me.
There was a guy doing hill reps at the red cross who I had to avoid deftly.
Managed to clatter down the hill to record a 4m km, first of the year.

5m Mini Foulee
Cold, very wet and very dark.
Forgot my head torch and so even with two girls up front with theirs I'd my foot in a puddle after 3 minutes. Happened again several times.
Paul was leaping around like a springbok and chatting away.
Wet feet, cold and dark.
Garmin died after not even half way.

2.6m Lion Rock via Farland point
Paul came out in his new kit and he was much fitter than me.
Tripped and fell on the stairs last night, barefoot and ripped the big toe nail off my left foot. It was oozing blood and agony. Luckily it popped back in and I got some gel on it so it did not swell up too much.
Second problem is a stinking cold, got from my dad, who got it from my brother. I could barely run it was so painful I could put no weight on the toe so was running on the heel and outside of my left foot.
I'm out for at least a week. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

9.1m almost all the way round Cumbrae
Hogmanay run. Stopped of to help dad load some tables into the car and then he drove the car home and I set off to run round the island the opposite way I normally do.
I got soaked at around Fintry, but it soon dried up again and I got a cheerful greeting from a bloke on a bike.
At Fairhaven slip there was a seal basking on the jetty that the sailway place uses. It watched me watch it as I ran past it.
Got clobbered again by a blast of wind, rain, sleet and hail that I could see coming at me from the Lion Rock and hit me at the Marine Station. By the time I could see the house in Kames Bay it had stopped and my family who were in the bay window of the house overlooking the bay asked "what storm" when I arrived dripping wet. Amazing how localised that was!

5.2m over ferry road and back the long way
3pm set off and it was the nicest part of the day, but already sun was low and setting as I plodded up the hill. Toyed with the idea of going to the top of the island, but figured more light on the low road and did not fancy the descent in the pitch black.
As it was got around Farland point as the light vanished and the street lights of Millport saw me home. Kames Bay was very pretty with the coloured lights strung out along the bay.

6.4m Bursinel Rolle
This time went looking for a route to give me a bit over 10km, but going towards Gland initially and then back to Rolle.
As expected the drag back on the main route (the long straight bit) was the least enjoyable bit, but at least there is a cycle way so not actually running on the road.
